Sanritsu Kanpan Hardtack

Kanpan is a kind of Japanese hardtack made from flour, sugar, sesame and salt. It is manufactured and sold by Sanritsu Confectionery company in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka. Kanpan has long been popular as a preserved food because of its long shelf life, low price, and compact size. It has been officially adopted as combat rations by the Self-Defense Forces, and is also widely used by civilians as emergency food for disaster prevention. Since it’s an emergency food, it might not look very tasty, but when you open the bag you can smell the fragrant sesame seeds and it also has a sweet taste as you chew it.
