Yaokin Sour Paper Candy Grape

The Grape version is the purple one — colored from red cabbage extract, which produces a deep, vivid purple that is immediately recognizable as grape before the first bite.

Like the Cola variety, it uses a natural coloring rather than synthetic dye, which gives the strip a color that is slightly more complex and less uniform than an artificial purple would be: rich, slightly blue-toned at the surface, and the most visually striking of the five flavors in the lineup when held together.

Grape is the flavor that anchors dagashi culture more than any other — the Kyoho-style dark sweetness that has been the reference point for Japanese fruit candy since the category was established, and the flavor that most people reach for when they want something that reads immediately as fruity and satisfying rather than bright or refreshing.
