Orion’s Mini series puts ramune tablets in a miniature plastic bottle with a screw cap, and the bottle is most of the appeal.
It is a scaled-down version of the ramune drink bottle — the same silhouette Japanese summer festivals have sold soda in for over a century — shrunk to something that fits in a child’s palm.
That shape is why these have been a dagashi shop fixture for decades: they look like a toy, they cost pocket change, and the cap means they can be opened and closed and carried around half-finished.
Green apple is a flavour category of its own in Japan rather than a description of a fruit.
Guriin appuru means the bright, sharp, slightly artificial-leaning sourness that soda, gum and ice lollies here all use — closer to a Granny Smith than to a red apple, and understood as a refreshment flavour rather than a fruit one.
Orion’s version was released in December 2025, and the company’s framing is a small reward for having got through the day.
Orion is an Osaka dagashi maker whose whole catalogue runs on this kind of thing: tiny formats, bright flavours, and a sense of humour about itself — the company’s own slogan translates roughly as we’ve got loads of interesting stuff.
Sold as a single bottle.
