Calbee Thin Jagabee Potato Snack Stand Pack Sour Cream & Onion

Jagabee turned twenty in 2026 — two decades since Calbee introduced the skin-on potato stick snack that occupies its own category between a potato chip and a french fry.

To mark the anniversary, the brand has been releasing one annual limited-edition combination of cut and flavor, and the 2026 summer entry is the Thin Jagabee in Sour Cream & Onion.

The Thin Jagabee cut is the distinguishing feature.

Where standard Jagabee sticks are thick enough to deliver the hokkuri — the warm, starchy potato character that comes from cooking a piece with real mass — the thin, wave-cut version produces a different eating experience.

The waves in the cut create surface area that increases the crunch; the thinner cross-section means the texture is lighter and more immediately crisp, dissolving faster and making the snack feel noticeably more refreshing in warm weather.

Calbee describes it as “kari-sakku” — the crisp, immediate snap that the standard cut doesn’t produce in the same way.

The sour cream and onion seasoning has been recalibrated for the 2026 version following feedback on last year’s release.

The balance between the sour cream’s clean lactic acidity and the roasted onion’s savory sweetness was adjusted to increase appetite appeal — more pronounced, better integrated, and described by Calbee as “appetite-stimulating” for the summer season.

The combination of the wave cut’s airiness and the refreshing sourness of the cream makes this the summer version in both intention and execution.

A limited release that began in convenience stores on July 20, 2026, with broader retail availability from August 3.
