Seika Hyoroku Mochi Soft Candy 10 Packs Set

Seika Hyoroku Mochi Soft Candy is a confection with deep roots in southern Japan — one that has been made continuously since 1931 and carries its history in every detail, from the package illustration to the flavor itself.

The name and the artwork come from Oishi Hyoroku Yume Monogatari, a comic tale written by a Satsuma samurai during the Edo period, in which a spirited young warrior sets out alone to rid his village of a mischievous fox, is tricked and humbled repeatedly along the way, and eventually returns victorious.

The character of Hyoroku — drawn in full samurai dress on every package — became the face of the confection when Seika’s predecessor company first introduced it, and has remained unchanged ever since.

The candy itself is a mochi ame: soft, chewy, and elastic, with a texture that sits closer to a rice cake than a conventional candy.

The flavor is built from four ingredients working in harmony — white bean paste (shiroan), roasted soybean flour (kinako), seaweed powder (nori-ko), and matcha from Kagoshima Prefecture — a combination that is earthy, subtly sweet, and distinctly Japanese.

Each piece is individually wrapped in edible oblate film, so it can be eaten directly without unwrapping.

The 14-piece box is the standard retail size, compact enough to carry and substantial enough to share.
