Zen-Noh Miyazaki Mango Candy

Miyazaki Prefecture is Japan’s foremost mango-producing region — the warm, subtropical climate of the southeastern Kyushu coast providing the heat accumulation and sunshine hours that mango cultivation requires.

Production began in the prefecture in the mid-1980s, and the harvesting technique that defines Miyazaki mango’s quality was established in 1987: allowing the fruit to ripen fully on the tree until it falls naturally into a net below, rather than harvesting early.

This natural drop method — locally called “juku-raku” — ensures each fruit reaches its maximum sugar content and the characteristic deep orange color before it ever leaves the tree.

Zen-Noh uses actual Miyazaki-grown mango purée in this candy — not juice, but purée, which retains more of the fruit’s fiber and the concentrated tropical sweetness that makes fresh Miyazaki mango one of the most expensive fruits in Japan.

The flavor opens immediately and fully: the dense, intensely sweet tropical warmth of ripe mango, with a faint floral quality that the purée carries through from the original fruit.

No milk component, no acidity modifier beyond the natural balance of the mango itself.

The candy dissolves slowly, releasing the mango character gradually — the kind of flavor that builds as it goes rather than arriving all at once and fading.

A product from Zen-Noh’s initiative to make premium Japanese agricultural products accessible in everyday formats. Available at Daiso stores across Japan.
