Orion Mini Vitamin C Cigarette Candy

Mini Vita C Cigarette is the product that crosses two of Orion’s most established formats: the Cigarette Series that started with Cocoa Cigarette in 1951, and the Mini Series bottle that introduced Mini Vita C in 1993.

The cigarette stick version of Mini Vita C takes the same energy drink-inspired flavor — the slightly medicinal, sweet-sour vitamin profile that has been one of Orion’s most recognizable tastes for over thirty years — and puts it in the format that Orion’s founder built the company around.

The packaging is deliberately retro: a Showa-era aesthetic that references the design language of vintage Japanese health products and energy drinks, printed in the muted tones and typography of something that might have appeared on a pharmacy shelf in the 1960s.

It is the most visually distinctive packaging in the current Cigarette Series lineup, neither trying to look like a cigarette packet nor using a cartoon character — instead occupying a third category that is specific to what vitamin-C-flavored candy looked like when the format was at its most culturally present.

The flavor is the same as Mini Vita C: the clean citric tartness of vitamin C combined with the slightly herbal, slightly sweet energy drink note that makes the taste immediately recognizable as a functional candy rather than a plain fruit one.

Vitamin C and beta-carotene are both present in the formulation. Six sticks per box, hard compressed candy texture made for chewing, Toyama Prefecture manufacturing.
