Glico Giant Pretz Pretzel Sticks Takoyaki

Giant Pretz is Glico’s souvenir-format Pretz — a larger box containing thirteen individually wrapped mini-bags, designed for sharing and distributed only at tourist destinations, station shops, and regional retailers in the area each flavor represents.

The Takoyaki variety is the Kansai one, and it is available only in the Kinki region: the six prefectures of Shiga, Kyoto, Osaka, Hyogo, Nara, and Wakayama.

Takoyaki is Osaka’s most essential street food — a round, savory ball of batter cooked in a specialized pan, with a piece of octopus at the center and dressed with a dark sweet Worcestershire-style sauce, katsuobushi, aonori, and beni shoga (pickled red ginger).

The combination of those five elements is what makes takoyaki instantly recognizable as Osaka food rather than generic festival snack, and the Giant Pretz Takoyaki replicates all five in a pretzel stick.

Octopus powder is worked into the dough itself — the same approach Glico takes with tomato paste in Tomato Pretz, so that the seafood character runs through each bite rather than sitting only on the surface.

Aosa (aonori seaweed powder) and dried beni shoga are applied to the outside, giving the stick its characteristic green and red flecks.

The sauce seasoning — built on concentrated sauce, sauce powder, and malt extract — provides the deep, slightly sweet Worcestershire character that defines the takoyaki flavor.

Katsuobushi (bonito flakes) adds the final aromatic layer: the smoky, clean seafood umami that rises from a fresh takoyaki when the katsuobushi is added and begins to move from the heat.

Thirteen bags per box, 33 kcal each. The souvenir that explains Osaka through a pretzel stick.
